With and For Girls recognises extraordinary girl-led and girl-centred groups and organisations around the world through an annual awards process that offers flexible funding alongside opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, accompaniment and profile raising. To date, the programme has supported 60 organisations in 41 countries reaching more than 1.5 Million people, through $1.95m in flexible awards and an additional $1 million in leveraged funds. The Director will oversee the delivery of the2019/20 With and For Girls Awards and secondary funding opportunities, along with significant advocacy and visibility activities including speaking engagements and other forms of thought leadership. You will represent the Collective with external stakeholders and lead on the cultivation of new Partners.

With and For Girls is a unique collaboration between 11 funders - ComicRelief , EMpower, FRIDA , Mama Cash, Nike Foundation ,NoVo Foundation ,PlanInternational UK , Purposeful, Stars Foundation , The Global Fund for Children and TheGlobal Fund for Women - united by a common belief that girls are agents of change. TheDirector will work closely with collective partners to drive strategic decision making over the coming year, and to co-create the strategy for 2021 and beyond.

In early 2019, the Collective transitioned from its home at Stars Foundation to become part of Purposeful, a movement building hub for adolescent girls born out of and headquartered in Sierra Leone, with UK offices. Over the next 12 months the Director will support the Purposeful leadership team to further integrate the initiative, build a unified organisational culture and a sustainable operation that delivers for girls.
Purposeful is a proudly feminist organisation, with a strong intersectional power analysis. We pursue strategies that prioritise the collective liberation of girls. We are looking for team members who have the vision, the resilience and resolve to remake the world, with and for girls.

We believe the best work happens in dialogue, and we value collective decision-making. We believe in celebrating success, amongst staff and partners alike. We are looking for team members with a deep commitment to collaborative working, and who bring a sense of joy and humour to what can be challenging work. We prioritise opportunities for learning, sharing, and embedding different world views. We pride ourselves on our diversity, the multiple languages we speak and places we live. We are looking for team members who thrive in diverse and cross-cultural contexts, and who bring passion, creativity and a thirst for learning to their work.

We are most proud of the shared vision we have built with our partners - rooted in mutuality, trust, and collaboration. We are looking for team members who are deeply committed to rebalancing power disparities in funder-partner relationships, acting as responsible stewards of resources of and for our movements.

Many of us have other projects and passions outside of Purposeful. We are a team of activists and advocates. We are all parents or have other caring responsibilities. We believe this makes the work stronger. We offer a highly flexible work environment, an enhanced package of benefits and the opportunity to work with a young and passionate leadership team to build a truly feminist organisation – from the way we set policies and define salaries, to our approach to collective care and so much more.
